NOT JUST ME AND YOU!!
A common thought among fans is that our interest in the female combat scene is a minority one. Also that despite any number of todays "celebs"being exposed for a number of sexual deviances none as yet been exposed as a lover of females fighting. So is that interest a closely guarded secret?Or do these people really not exsist?
I would tend to go for the secret theory as I for one have seen a number of well known faces at pro wrestling shows and can also recall a British Member of Parliament of a few years back buying videos in the Swish Publications Shop in Londons Soho.
Probably the most famouse person to suffer exposure was the King himself Elvis. In his book "Elvis" biographer Albert Goldman revealed that he loved nothing better than to have girls strip down to white cotton panties and wrestle for his entertainment.Of course many avid Elvis fans branded Goldman a liar and made the valid point that none of these young ladies ever sold their story to the National Enquirer,or Confidential Magazine who at the time were despate for sleaze to throw at the man.A shortened version of Goldmans efforts can be found in the 1981 Rolling Stone Magazine headed "The Party Years".
What is without doubt true is that Elvis was a fan of female wrestling, indeed he dated U.S. wrestling legend Penny Banner a handful of times, the last in the week prior to going away on army service. In her book Penny also relates that Elvis was quite often in attendance when she wrestled in Memphis.
Mention of press exposure reminds me that our own News of the World as struggled to find anyone worthy since planting a girl in the Festelle camp and confronting Jeff the Refs wife to tell her that he was a party to almost forcing young ladies to fight. An interesting aside to this is that a fan once wrote and told me he had asked Jeff about his wifes view on him being involved in the activity.Jeff apparently told him he was not married!!!
Ah the freedom of the press.
