ANOTHER FOR THE FILM BUFFS.
Most older fans recognise the name of Terence Young as the man who brought us the gipsy fight in the Bond film From Russia With Love and a few will recall is earlier effort which I believe was known as The Poppy is Also a Flower,this clip is from that film.Now here is the poser,the blonde girl in the bikini wrestling bout is 60s glamour girl Senta Berger,but who was her opponent?

This was the first time I've ever heard of this film and that fem wrestling scene was a gem of a find.
It would have been even better if only those other starring fems (Angie Dickinson; Rita Hayworth; Luisa Rivelli; Sylvia Sorrente; and others) had done a tussle or two, too, but I suppose you just have to be thankful for what you get.

Unfortunately, Senta and Laya never wrestle in the movie. Instead, they are backstage preparing for their match when the detective (who had just been watching the wrestling) comes back to interview them. If you notice, both Senta and Laya are brunette in the following scene. The one girl wrestling is blonde.
ReplyDeleteAnd if there is one actress I have ever wanted to see do a fight scene it would be Senta Berger. For my money one of the most ideal fighter's body of all time.
