HOW TO FILL YOUR BAR.

In these hard times many bars here in the UK are going to the wall and I have often thought why not follow the example of many sports bars in the States who put up a ring and get the girls to fight.Viewing some of the contests and the crowds attending,it seems a succesfull formula for selling plenty drinks.

Hard times pass. They always have and they always will (and the drinks, though they sell well, are likely not near the top of the proprietors' minds for events like this).

Just remember: We 'Murkins -- with the exception of the 1930's -- don't know beans about hard times. When you're forced to live like moles underground during a blitzkrieg for months and then emerge to see your countrymen dead and your homes, businesses and everything bombed to hell and then have to cope with all that ... THAT'S what you call hard times.

    Now, the reason:

Probably because UK culture is better " refined " than US culture (regarding direct women's fighting) and the UK has a higher " standard " rather than seeing butt-brained men and women enjoy and participate in subzero-value entertainment rather less frequently than here in the US. (In fairness, this really isn't a Big Fave for a lot of us 'Murkins over here, either.)

Yes, even though there are basic rules and referees, there will probably always be an audience for this but then again there will probably always be an audience for all types of what I call dumb-ass fighting. In the past here in 'Murkinland we had for a number of years these organized and televised Toughman and Toughwoman contests. Big Events; Big Crowds ... then, ... after a while, ... everything just died down. So now what do we have ? ... Yes, there are the MMA events and a lot of these to me are still on the stupid side of " sports fightig " but at least it appears the rules are decent and the competitors, I admit, have undergone a hell of a lot of training for the better and show a lot of skill.

So I just hope the degenerates out there don't make it their turf. That remains to be seen.

As far as following the example of the US, not everything in 'Murkinland is worth copying. I'd say to the UK pubs just continue to serve your great UK beers and beverages -- or dream up something new or expand your menu -- like you've been doing for centuries and you'll come out of these hard times OK.
