A MIRACLE.
Saturday is a day not to be missed for fans of boxer Rola El-Halabi who on the 1st of April 2011 was shot in her dressing room by her step father prior to her bout with Lucia Morelli.A result of which saw her confined to a wheel chair and enduring five operations leaving doubt that she would walk again.
The miracle is complete on Saturday when she faces Miss Morelli for the WIBA Lightweight Title at the Ratiopharm Ulm Arena at 22.30 local time.
Just as shocking is that Rola's step father was only sentenced to six years in prison, this despite having also shot two security guards at the same time.

ReplyDeleteDamn right, imho.
I cannot pass too much judgement because I'm (obviously) not aware of the whole situation or all the facts but anyone can probably at least say she will never see her stepfather again.
Although I'm not a boxing fan I can only add my Greatest Admiration and Relief for her enormous recovery and hope she never has to endure such horror again.
It's so appalling I'm now motivated to search the news archives and find out why in the hell this ever happened.
In the U.S.A., the recent mass school murders of 26 people (20 elementary students aged 5 to 7; 6 adults who were teachers and others on the school staff) in the state of Connecticut has (again) opened up explosive--no pun intended--debate about gun control stateside. This blog is not meant as a forum for such subject but if I were related to Rola I would damn near implore her to learn to use a gun and carry one on her person at all times for protection.
Had she had one on Apr. 1, 2011, she could have put it to damn good use.
Amen.
