It's hard to believe that Festelle's best works came from the eighties when Maggie Jennings had almost super star status.
Even now their work stand s the test of time and compares well with much of the current offerings in the U.K.
maggie was and still is superb.she won the majority of her matches, beating some good opponents. low points of her career were losing to beatrice, having her ribs broken by a brutal scissor hold and getting thrashed by a air hostess in the ring.
ReplyDeleteNo shame in losing to Goffin, and the brutal bodyscissor was courtesy of Leila Kawaii (Tigra). Who was the air hostess? That sounds like an upset.
ReplyDeleteMaggie had what was supposed to be a wrestling match with another very tough woman called Helen. One of those occasions where the two opponents had genuine dislike for each other and the fight was very rough from the start and developed into a brawl. I have never seen Maggie lose her temper but these two were genuinely pissed and went at it like it was a bar fight. The title was 'English Grudge' of memory serves.
ReplyDeleteSaw Helen vs. Maggie in what I think was a rematch. Helen was much heavier and clearly no athlete like Maggie. Maggie has the ability to absorb a great amount of pain and is very difficult to submit, thus was able to absorb Helen's best efforts and submit her a # of times as Helen got more and more tired (after a 20 minute first fall).
ReplyDeleteAs for Beatrice I saw her easily handle Maggie in the Athens tape, but the filming was bad and the submissions hard to really appreciate. In their rematch in Beatrice's loft, Maggie exacted revenge winning 2-0, again showing incredible will and determination in a # of tough positions. Beatrice told me that she would send me the tape where she got her revenge (however her legal problems followed shortly thereafter so I never got them).
Maggie seems genuinely very nice and has a great spirit and like Beatrice I seldom have seen her submit, thus search and hope for a clip where she does.
I also have a download of Ayeshia vs. Lena and Davies, where they have a tough bout (and don't particularly like each other), Why I bought that tape is I am a sucker when opponents are supposedly amongst the best and here the TPC tape proclaimed their records to be 18-1-1 and 14-2..... Thus Magie beating Ayeshia again shows her skill and ability.

ReplyDeleteShe also fought a younger Ana Paula Leal, a legit judoka. She did very well against APL, finally submitting to a rear naked choke.
As for APL was never 100% sure how legitimate she was. Seemed a lot of hyperbole in her write-ups and comments.
ReplyDeleteVs. Beatrice in The Athens tape she submitted her but was tough to really appreciate it. After Maggie beat Beatrice I think her fighting spirit really took over and while gracious wanted another match.....
There were several matches Beatrice against Maggie. One was a draw, fought in Jemelle. The best match of Maggie was her incredible win against Beatrice. Beatrice had to submit twice and was very tired and exhausted. Hard to see Beatrice tired. One submission gained Maggie scissoring mistress Beatrice. Beatrice breathes loudly and was obviously in pain. A surprised Beatrice needs a break and needs more than half a minute to continue fighting.
