I have often asked for the background to these fights with no luck so far.
Do the guys take a long the wife to fight a rival?And why do these other people step in when the fights start to get interesting?
My understanding is that these fights are between two villages in Bolivia. The basically fight, believing that spilling blood will improve their crop. The fights are between men, women and even children. There used to be deaths in the past as fighters even used rocks during their fights. But police has clamped down to ensure the safety of the fighters. That is also the reason why the officials stop fights before there are serious injuries.
