DO YOU KNOW THE ANSWER?

Is it a thing with the media that female fighters in particular boxers seem to have the lesbian label attached to them.
This was pointed out by a fan in Germany who was talking about Regina Halmich now retired from the ring and becoming a success in a number of other fields.
All the recent photos in celebrity mags seem to show her with another woman suggesting that she could possibly be from the planet Lesbos.
I hope someone can correct me if I am wrong but I seem to recall a press report of her being divorced some time back.

  1. I'm not a boxing fan or supporter but I'm also not a recluse, clueless to popular or stereotypical labeling. I have not seen any inordinate media labeling or attachment of lezbo affiliation to female boxers or other female sporting participants or enthusiasts (media attention-grabbers or not).

I think any observation to the contrary is mistaken. Yes, homo females participate in sporting events just like (hetero) females do (obviously). There has been ( and probably always will be) made mention of any homo direction or orientation of a particular (media-focused) individual if it's discovered that he or she happens to be homo but any media over-reaction to such people I think is now rare.

I can understand how it might cause one to think it but any athlete (celebrity or not) being repetitively shown by the media with only members of the same sex s not grounds for indicating homo direction or orientation and I don't think the media is a factor ...

Yes, in the past it was directly newsworthy ... As time went by the media may have still caused others to surmise a homo attachment based on appearances ... The situation is now much less media-initiated or "sparked."
